Sunshine Circle Teen Initiative 2018-2019

Sunshine Circle Teen Holocaust Remembrance Initiative is a program that addresses the urgent need to educate teens about the Holocaust while they are still able to hear testimony from Holocaust Survivors. Our program also places a strong emphasis on volunteerism from a young age—identifying and addressing needs within our community. Through Sunshine Circle, teens regularly prepare and deliver nourishing meals to local Survivors and indigent seniors, spend time hearing the stories and memories of Survivors, and attend classes geared to increase their knowledge of our past.

Hebrew High (2017-2018)

Hebrew High is a project of Sunshine Circle that provides the opportunity for teenage students to earn up to 10 foreign language credits (UC accredited) while receiving a meaningful Jewish education. In addition to classes on Hebrew language, Israeli history and culture, our students will have the opportunity to meet and interact with local Holocaust Survivors and seniors and engage in various volunteering efforts on a weekly basis.

Hebrew High is a product of Sunshine Circle's Teen Holocaust Remembrance Initiative which, since 2010, has paired over 200 local teens with 50 Holocaust Survivors for one-on-one home visits, lectures and meetings. Hebrew High will continue to educate and mentor teens to be socially active and responsible citizens while incorporating an exciting Hebrew Literacy program.
