Interview Attire (2018-2019)

Desert Best Friend's Closet (DBFC)'s Interview Attire program outfits low-income job seekers We discovered an unmet need that the youth in the Coachella Valley have a demand for professional attire. We are approached by high school counselors, YMCA, HOSA, Young Women Leaders and others to help students with clothing. Most local youths do not have a suit or dress clothes, nor can their families afford to purchase these items. This puts us in a difficult position—be the agency that "says yes," and helps those youths, or decline since we do not have funding for a youth program.

Anderson Children's Foundation will fund 50 students from any of three local school districts (Palm Springs, Desert Sands or Coachella Valley) to be outfitted with professional attire as needed for extracurricular activities. The goal of the funding will be to level the playing field for students and their families who struggle to satisfy the dress requirements of extracurricular activities. Additionally, DBFC will educate the students how to dress professionally, project a more polished image and most importantly, treat each student with dignity and respect.
