Anderson Children's Foundation
Anderson Children's Foundation
Irene W. Anderson, who cared deeply for children yet had none of her own, established this foundation in 1970 in memory of her husband Guy L. Anderson. The purpose of the Anderson Children’s Foundation is to provide for unmet needs of children of every race, culture, and creed. Our goal is to nurture and inspire young people in areas including health, education, recreation, and the arts. We welcome your involvement in caring for children by applying for funding of worthy nonprofit programs.
Academy of Musical Performance
The Academy of Musical Performance (AMP) is a non-profit that offers affordable contemporary music education programs to young people ages 10-18 living in the Coachella Valley. AMP is best known for being a "school of rock," but we offer a diverse amount of other community music programs, with the aim of fostering productivity and social responsibility through creativity, communication and collaboration in individual and group music programs based around performing, rehearsing, writing, recording, and marketing.
In 2020, AMP added a Private Instruction program to our programming roster. While we had to move all of our lessons online in March, the lesson program continues to grow. With the help of Anderson Children's Foundation, we are able to offer the amazing opportunity of very affordable private instruction to many students through our Tuition Assistance program in Fall 2020.
Boo 2 Bullying
Our new education initiative C.A.P.E. Nation for K-3 students is designed to prevent bullying at an early age and to teach kids to be kind and compassionate to their peers. Based on the four principles of COURAGE, APPRECIATION, PERSONAL Health and EDUCATION, the program curriculum and video incorporate practices like meditation, mindfulness, gratitude, exercise and education. Our goal is to present C.A.P.E. Nation to 20,000 youth in CV schools and community organizations--and also make it available online to elementary teachers, parents and students across the county.
California Desert Land Conservancy
The Outreach and Education Department of Mojave Desert Land Trust (MDLT) is dedicated to advancing the impact of environmental literacy and land stewardship across the California desert. MDLT’s Desert Discovery Field Studies (DDFS) program provides diverse, underprivileged students from desert communities with a creative and innovative way of boosting their understanding of the environment, the interconnection between people and place, desert ecology, and conservation. These experiential learning labs focus on important environmental themes while providing a chance for students to safely explore, learn, and conduct themselves as citizen scientists.

Creating Future Innovators with Coding and Virtual Reality
The purpose of this project is to utilize technology to improve student's background knowledge of their world and enhance their coding skills. While using the technology, we will be supporting state standard instruction and preparing students for careers in coding and other technology fields. For example, Beebots not only teaches basic coding, but can be utilized along our math curriculum to teach shapes, addition, subtraction, number recognition. It can also be used in word recognition, rhyming, and other language art related curriculum. Virtual reality can help support students in science and history by providing them with life-like experiences in each. Through the use of an LFD, Google Maps, and Google Expeditions, the students will better understand their community, country, and major historical events.
Desert Best Friend's Closet
Youth Attire Program
There are so many times where casual clothes just won’t do. Whether it’s a job, internship or a club event, sometimes you need to meet a professional dress code. Obtaining the right apparel can be difficult and expensive. That’s why Desert Best Friend’s Closet (DBFC) is offering a FREE professional attire program just for high school students.
Students make an appointment and work with our volunteer “stylists” who will help you select an outfit that works for your next school activity, event or professional position. And the outfit is yours to keep!
