Equitable Access to Sports Participation (2026-2027)
Gear It Forward is a Coachella Valley-based nonprofit dedicated to eliminating financial barriers that prevent children from participating in sports. Through the support of the Anderson Children's Foundation, a slightly under $10,000 grant will provide direct assistance to local youth by funding sports registrations, free athletic equipment, and free sports clinics throughout the Coachella Valley.
These funds will ensure that children from underserved and low-income families have access to organized sports regardless of their financial circumstances. By covering registration fees, providing necessary equipment, and offering no-cost skill development clinics led by experienced coaches, Gear It Forward will increase youth participation, promote healthy lifestyles, build confidence, and foster leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
Our mission extends beyond athletics. We believe sports serve as a powerful tool for personal growth, mentorship, and community connection. Through this project, Gear It Forward will create opportunities for youth to develop both on and off the field while strengthening families and expanding access to positive extracurricular experiences. The long-term impact will be increased access to opportunity, improved youth engagement, and a stronger, more connected Coachella Valley community where every child has the chance to play, grow, and thrive.
