Anderson Children's Foundation
Irene W. Anderson, who cared deeply for children yet had none of her own, established this foundation in 1970 in memory of her husband Guy L. Anderson. The purpose of the Anderson Children’s Foundation is to provide for unmet needs of children of every race, culture, and creed. Our goal is to nurture and inspire young people in areas including health, education, recreation, and the arts. We welcome your involvement in caring for children by applying for funding of worthy nonprofit programs.
Animal Samaritans
Animal Samaritans, the Coachella Valley’s largest most-comprehensive animal welfare organization, is a 501 (c) non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of animals and people. During school time, our Humane Education program educates youngsters about responsible pet ownership and pet safety through in-classroom presentations. During the summer, we provide free-of-charge Critter Camps for children ages 7 through 11 in Desert Hot Springs Recreation Center, Desert Hot Springs Family Resource Center, Mecca Family & Farmworker’s Service Center, and now in Mead Valley Family Resource Center.
Boys and Girls Club of San Gorgonio Pass
Triple Play is a year-round comprehensive health and wellness program offering a variety of activities that teach youth how to eat smart, keep fit, handle stress, and form positive relationships. Boys & Clubs of the San Gorgonio Pass implements Triple Play with youth 6-17, utilizing the three age-appropriate program components Mind, Body, and Soul.
Coachella Valley Repertory
The annual Youth Outreach Productions at CVRep are original theatrical experiences specifically developed for Coachella Valley students that are culturally and socially relevant in today's complicated world. During the twelve years prior to the COVID pandemic, CVRep bussed in more than 14,000 students, free of charge, to experience live theater, some for the very first time. The casts for the productions are comprised of local students as well, and that offers the student actors the opportunity to work in a professional setting, giving many of them their first professional acting experience.
Cabot's Pueblo Museum
Cabot’s Museum Foundation’s mission is to promote and preserve Cabot Yerxa’s legacy of cultural respect, education, art, community, and the desert habitat. Making a Difference is a multi-visit curriculum-based program, in collaboration with the Palm Springs Unified School District, that serves every 2nd grade student in Desert Hot Springs. The program begins with a classroom visit from a Museum Educator who introduces students to Cabot Yerxa, the man who built the Museum and helped found the city.
Desert Recreation Foundation
The Youth Recreation Engagement Programs will serve youth in the communities of Coachella, Thermal, Oasis, Mecca, North Shore, Indio Hills, and Thousand Palms. Youth across the Coachella Valley will have the opportunity to participate in all the programs/events at no cost in their surrounding communities. The programs will occur throughout 2023-2024.
